NYC Bound! In 2 days!!!

To say I am excited is an understatement, like an UBER understatement.  I have missed the city since I have moved.  I have missed the pace of the city, the art, the people, the energy, the vibrance, the FOOD, the love for understanding of what it means to be a New Yorker, the fashion, the window displays at Christmas time and even just how the whole city feels during the holidays.  I even miss the tourists and the stinky smell of trash in the summer heat (well maybe not that).  I miss the roof tops of Brooklyn on warm summer nights, salsa dancing on pier 54, salsa dancing anywhere, running into 5ks (literally running into them) on my way to hole in the wall coffee shops for hot chocolate with my friends (Tiff does NOT drink coffee, although it’s hilarious when she does).  I miss the international center of photography (and being a TA with Tiff), cafe lalo on the UWS, knitty city stops to visit my aunt who owns the shop and the street fairs that set up in the summer.  I miss central park (of course) and people watching.  Ohhh the people watching.  I miss public transportation, period.  I miss people playing music the subways or ranting about the when the last judgement will be.  I miss taxi cabs and getting pissed at cab drivers for a number of reasons (taking the long way because they think your a tourist, hitting on you (just ew), trying to tell you their life story and how hard it is to make a dime in hopes of a good tip (until you notice his legit rolex and realize that 90% of what he said isn’t true).  I miss the Thai food, Brazilian food, street falafel and H&H bagels.  I miss ice skating in bryant park, running through central park (although it was more like walking quickly and b!tching about life), and kayaking in the hudson river (even though I needed to decontaminate after).  I just miss the City.

With all that said, it would be hard for me to say anything close to “I hate it here” (in California).  I love it here.  I love my life.  I love my guy.  I love my job.  I love the boys at our job.  I love the time I get to actually be creative.  I love the beach.  I love the sunsets.  I love the feeling of family.

So hopefully this quick trip will give me my New York fix for a few months or until we can go back to the city again.

Photographs:  120 color film that I took on one trip to see Lady Liberty with my sister, cousins and Paw Paw (grandmother).  Sorry about the dust.  I didn’t dust them well before I scanned them in.
